Dr Mhairi Donaldson

Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Mhairi is a Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Clinical Psychologist. She is highly experienced, with 25 years’ experience working in NHS mental health settings in Scotland and England. She was awarded her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Leeds in 2002.


Mhairi has held senior positions in the NHS, including Head of Older People’s Psychology and Associate Clinical Director of Psychological Services, the latter focussing on developing and providing services in the community for people with complex trauma. She was an Honorary Lecturer on the Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at the University of Essex until 2018 and has significant experience in clinical and strategic leadership within the NHS.

 

Mhairi's broad and varied experience has supported the development of skills in a range of therapeutic models, which she uses collaboratively and flexibly to enable individualised therapeutic interventions to support clients in achieving their goals.  In addition to her clinical psychology training, she has further training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT) and cognitive analytic therapy (CAT).


Mhairi is passionate about helping adults with complex trauma, older people’s mental health, neurodiversity including autism and ADHD, and supporting people with cognitive and physical health conditions.

Mhairi offers appointments in Bishop's Stortford on weekday evenings.
